What is the meaning of the name Exilda?
I believe it is a French-Canadian name in use wherever the French-Canadian culture existed, from Acadia in the east to the Prairies in the West, to the New England states. It was especially popular from 1840 to 1910. I have a great grand-aunt born in eastern Ontario in 1886 named Exilda.

This name is in my family tree, too (an ancestor on my mother's side, I don't remember the relation). I believe it was spelled Exhilda, though. My mother's family is French-Canadian and we're from New England. I'm not sure where she was born.
