Meanings of some names by Caprice |
Timarete derives from the Greek words "TIMH"(sounds tee-MEE), to honour and "ARETE" (a-re-TEE), virtue. Its exact meaning is "honour to virtue".
Timarete was a priestess in Dodone, contemporary to
Herodotus (5th cent. BCE).
"Until the day that an ancient inscription will be found with the name "Alexandrovski" written on it instead of "
Alexander", true Macedonia and true Macedonians will remain Greek, as they always were."
