Can anyone confirm or does anyone have a source of this being a Hebrew name for girls meaning my joy/my song?
I know that Roni and Ronit exist with these meanings. Roni is unisex but more common for girls in Israel (Top 10 in several years).
As the original would have been written in Hebrew, I guess it could be translated as Ronia, Ronya or even Roniya.
I have been able to find some Ronias and Ronyas in Israel, one born as early as 1890 (Israel as such didn't exist back then but she had parents/family members with Hebrew names and later moved to Israel).
I know that the Swedish name Ronja exists (pronounced roughly the same) but I think they are unrelated as the book of the author who invented the name from the name of a Swedish lake was released sometime in the 1980s (or late 70s, not sure) and the Hebrew Ronias I found were born as early as 1890, in the late 60s, early 70s and all the way up to 2005 (I guess there are younger ones too).
I don't think it is heavily used in Isreal or anything (Roni is, not sure about Ronit) but I am curious to hear if people from Israel know it, have known someone named this and also curious about anyone elses opinion (you don't have to be from Israel to answer this, anything would be helpful that you can contribute!).
I love both Roni and Ronia and would consider them for future children. I know that Roni is used a lot but I would like to know about Ronia.
