Something I didn't have space to make clear in the column was that technically Kyle was a middle name for both Kyle MacDonnell and Kyle Rote. She was born as Ruth Kyle MacDonnell and he was William Kyle Rote. However, both of them seem to have always been called Kyle from early childhood.
