Aquinnah
I have always loved this name, but have been able to find out very little about it except that it is of Native American origin & that their is place of the same name in Mass., USA and Maquinna has been used in BC, Canada. Recently I found this quote, is it valid & if so why has it not been added to the database? Would it ever be? Anywhere here its & if anyone knows anything else it would be much appreciated.
""Aquinnah"(a-kee-nah****) is a Wampanoag Indian word meaning beautiful colours by the sea. We chose this name for our cottage because each summer that we have been here, we have marveled at the blue sky and sea, the red sand, and the many shades of green that characterize the landscape."
****I thought it was Ah-quin-nah

What you need to do is to put that quote (and the reference, ie where the quote came from) and any other details of the name's usage into an email, and send it to Mike C (contact details on main page). Mike has a huge backlog of name submissions - I think he said that there's submissions up to a year old that he hasn't been able to deal with yet - but he'll get to it eventually. If he's satisfied that the quote is accurate and can be verified then the name will probably be added.
