Six months ago Stefan and Anya decided it was ready to expand their family again. Since they both had dogs growing up it was important to them that they gave that same opportunity to their daughter.
They bundled Octavia into her buggy one day and off they went to the shelter looking to give a dog a forever home. With a toddler to look after, Anya wasn't particularly looking for a young dog that would need training but one of the first pens they come across has three energetic six month old puppies in. Octavia is out of the buggy before you could say "SIT" and has her little face pushed up against the mesh. While two of the puppies bark - completely terrified of this small human - the smallest meets her at the gate and gives her face a big lick through the metal.
Anya drags Octavia away because they're not looking for a puppy. But 45 minutes later after walking round the entire shelter, nobody has quite captured their hearts like the dog in that first pen. They head back and sign the forms for him. Two weeks later the Lovejoys are bringing "Roy" home [Octavia's choice - Anya thinks she was trying to say 'boy']. Six months later, Anya and Stefan and Octavia have just celebrated Roy's first birthday. He's totally in love with Octavia and the two play together all day. Despite the occasional tantrum, Anya finds Octavia easier to handle as a toddler than a baby. She's learning to communicate and the pair have a strong bond with Stefan and Anya both disciplining from the same page. Life is looking good for the Lovejoys.
