Jon and Katie have been busy with Eli, but are, on the whole, enjoying parenthood. For Katie's 24th birthday, Jon decided to surprise her with a trip to the animal shelter to pick out a dog! Katie always wanted a dog, but her parents felt that pets (of any variety) were unnecessary. With Jon and Eli's input, Katie picked out a black lab mix named Max. Max is very friendly and has had some prior training--Jon quickly learned that Max responded to such commands as come, stay, shake, and fetch. Eli has loved having Max in the house--even if Max does knock him over sometimes (by accident, of course).

Six months ago Stefan and Anya decided it was ready to expand their family again. Since they both had dogs growing up it was important to them that they gave that same opportunity to their daughter.
They bundled Octavia into her buggy one day and off they went to the shelter looking to give a dog a forever home. With a toddler to look after, Anya wasn't particularly looking for a young dog that would need training but one of the first pens they come across has three energetic six month old puppies in. Octavia is out of the buggy before you could say "SIT" and has her little face pushed up against the mesh. While two of the puppies bark - completely terrified of this small human - the smallest meets her at the gate and gives her face a big lick through the metal.
Anya drags Octavia away because they're not looking for a puppy. But 45 minutes later after walking round the entire shelter, nobody has quite captured their hearts like the dog in that first pen. They head back and sign the forms for him. Two weeks later the Lovejoys are bringing "Roy" home [Octavia's choice - Anya thinks she was trying to say 'boy']. Despite the occasional tantrum, Anya finds Octavia easier to handle as a toddler than a baby. She's learning to communicate and the pair have a strong bond with Stefan and Anya both disciplining from the same page. Life is looking good for the Lovejoys.

On a walk, the Fairchilds find a small magpie injured on the ground. Eleanor's been dying for a pet ever since she was littlw, and she quickly persuades Fabian to take it home. They nurse him back to health, and discovee that's he's a lively, cheeky bird. They decide to call him Puck. Puck loves to mess around, even with baby John, who loves to play with him.

Margot names her Madge because the cat somehow reminds her a headstrong, independent woman in the 1940's. Initially, Jim was worried that Madge wouldn't warm up to Chad but the two became fast friends! After having Chad, Jim and Margot didn't expect their lives to change to drastically. The couple now rely on each other more than ever, in order to properly bring up their son.

Sasha brings home a tiny tabby kitten. The pet's name comes from a cute baby-babble version of Nani trying to say Kitty. Nani loves Kip, and Kip likes to guard Nani's crib even though he's only a small kitten. The Meyers' know that Kip is going to be a great family pet for years to come.

Annabelle is now 18 months old, and Felix and Jess have decided to adopt a pet! They decided on a sheltie for its intelligence and companionship, and when Felix and Jess took a trip to the humane society to find one, Jess set her heart on a handsome amber-and-white sheltie puppy with a waggly tail and sparkling eyes. The humane society had named him Blake Sheltie, a play on Blake Shelton’s name, but Felix and Jess agreed that they should shorten it to Blake for the sake of Annabelle being able to say it.
Blake is very good around Annabelle, and she loves it when he licks her face and snuggles with her. Felix and Jess are also teaching her how to play with Blake, as well as simple tasks like brushing. Life is a little more hectic for Felix and Jess now that they have a toddler and a dog to take care of, but they’re getting through it.

When Adeline is 18 months old, Nova and Stetson adopt a Chinese Crested dog, whom they name Puff. Puff is very eager to play with Adeline, and the two sometimes cause trouble together! Now that she is back in work, Nova has started dropping Adeline off at the daycare. Nova misses her baby during the day, but she must continue her job to make money to care for her. Adeline loves babbling and exploring the apartment room, which seems big to a little girl like her! She still is fussy and a bit energetic, but loves her mom and dad and is quick to obey. Both parents love seeing their baby grow and change each day. So far, everything is great!
