i searched on several turkish/english online dictionaries, but i haven't found a single definition concerning Tamreen or Tamrin. i finally gave up and just typed Tamreen on Google and found to my great surprise that Tamreen in KURDISH means: to blow out, put out, extinguish or to bury.i don't know if turkish is a branch of semitic languages like arabic, so if anyone knows anything about this, let me know. Can anyone out there tell me if Tamreen has an arabic meaning (i am told it does, but have been unable to find one).thanks a heap

Begam is the female form of the originally Turkish word 'beg', which means lord or prince. So it means 'lady of rank'.

Tamreen is a verbal noun of marin which means supple, flexible. So the most direct meaning is 'to soften, make flexible'. It also means 'constant practice' and 'exercise'.

Possible origins of DaVonna . . .DaVonna is a name made up of various different "bits and pieces" - here's some suggestions. Click on the hyperlinks for details of any of these names.1) It could be a variation of Davina, influenced by African-American naming tradtions.2) It could be a combination of Yvonne with the popular African-American name prefix Da- - similar to Lavonne.3) It could be a variation of Devon, again influenced by African-American naming styles.

Could it be Divanain india and afghanistan, not sure which language, Divana means crazy, but in the sense of being madly in love. this word is used in iran, but it has lost it's connotation of love, it just means crazy.just a thought.

Yes it's true, Deewana (Dee-VAN-a) means crazy in love in hindi.

So, what do you think of my translation of Tamreen? Not too 'horsey' for you, I hope?
It's Dee-WAH-na by the way.

horsey ? please do not make fun of me sad sad plight... i am trying to forget about that... (horse in question is not winning races!) it's really amazing for me to have found a meaning to my name, although it's not really special "to make supple", hummmm what was my mom thinking of when she named me ??? plus, i now know that Tamreen also means "lessons" in Turkish, and my last name (Arif)means "knowledgeable" in arabic. so basically i'm Lessons Knowledgeable... hummm sadabout the Dee-WAH-na thing, sorry about that mate, my 1st language is bengali and we say Dee-VAH-na, so i end up getting mixed up sometimes. gotta forgive for that one.anyways, muchas gracias para tu ayuda.

Where did you find out Tamreen is Arabic? Hebrew and Arabic are connected languages you know. Where did you parents get this name from? That might help us a bit.Lala

My mother was going to name Noreen, but then my parents decided to change the name to Tamreen because my late grandpa having studied arabic thought it would be nicer name. he apparently actually knew what it mean, but everyone else in the family seems to have forgotten. my middle name also causes confusion: Jehan. what does that mean ? can anyone help ?have discovered with much dismay that there is HORSE named Tamreen !!!

Jehan is probably a variation of Jehanne, an older French form of Jeanne (Jane) - click on the hyperlinks for details.:-)

Jehan is the masculine form of Jehanne. :) They are prononced like Jean (zhawn, like ANdre) and Jeanne (zhan).

oh ok lol

i am aware of the Jeanne variation, the only problem is i am bengali and Jehanne is from french origin. i kinda think my mom didn't think of that one. she took the name because of its arabic origin (she claims that it is arabic). also, my middle name is spelled in the masculin when comparing to Jehanne. :-)my mom says that Jehan meant "the world" in arabic (not sure about this). can anyone give me any information about this ? it would be greatly appreciated.

Now i finally can confirm this. thanks a heap. however (there's always a however) what does Tamreen mean? could it also turn out to be Turkish, anyone out there who can confirm this ?also, my last name (often used as a first name for men): Arif is supposed to mean in "the one who has the knowledge, the knower", in arabic. is this true?still can't get over the fact that there's a HORSE NAMED TAMREEN. how sad!

my name is arabic but what does it mean?

I'm sorry I can't help with this... My knowledge of Turkish is close to zero lol
But look for "tamreen" or "tamrin" in a Turkish/English dictionary, and see what you find... You're lucky because Turkish is written with the same letters as English, contrary to other Arabic languages :)
