It's a trashy name, like its rhyming twin Stacy. Yuck.

Very ugly. Can't stand it.

My name is Tracy, and for the most part, I like it, especially the way the 'y' looks at the end. It's pretty. However, I can't stand when people spell it like 'Tracey', but other than that it's fine. (*I'm definitely not "trashy", nor are any other Tracys that I've met in my life, so I don't know where people get that impression!*)

My name's Tracy and I absolutely love it. I am the only Tracy in the whole grade, it's awesome being an individual. I disagree that it's trashy, it's not. I hate when people spell it Tracey, or Traci, it's not flattering, and yes it does rhyme with Stacy which can be a trashy name.

I like the name. I never did before, but I've met a Tracy and a Tracey, both of whom are great people and have changed my view of the name.

My cousin's name is Tracy. I think it suits her but personally I don't like it very much. I think it's the 't' at the beginning that makes it sound odd.

My name is Tracey and although I've never particularly cared for it I certainly don't think it sounds trashy! Spelling it without the e looks more like a man's name.

The first time I heard this name I thought it sounded a little silly and unconventional. The name sounds modern but not hip at all. It is not a good business name even though some with this name are famous.

I don't like this name much, even though it is the title of a lovely track by Mogwai. So is Cody, after all, and I dislike Cody even more as a name. This name sounds both sort of middle-aged-woman-like and girly. It sounds more mature than Stacy and the very little-girl-like Lacy, but like most names ending in the ''ee'' sound (Finley being an exception), Tracy sounds quite youthful. The name just isn't pretty at all. I can't imagine this name on males.

The really full-of-herself Jacqueline Wilson character has made me hate this name. Urgh. Tracy. And I'd also like to point out that it was from Irish origin.

On a boy? Really? The only time I've heard Tracy on a boy was in Pokemon.

Amusing that people post--with great authority, apparently--what they believe to be the origin of this name. They seem to be ignoring the information this very website provides on its etymology. People look at one baby name book and think they "know" what a name means. In fact, the origins of many names are disputed. And in this case, the name MAY indeed have multiple sources. You'll note that it can be said to be derived from Theresa. Obviously, this would only apply to the female name. It is also a common last name, and those are the origins that are disputed.

Tracy, while dated, is not trashy. Stacy, however, is very.
