The root word for the name Adnan is عَ-دَ-نَ and shares the root with "Eden". It does mean "settler" but in a very specific sense where the settling is firm. The Arabic dictionary I've got says
"الدائم الإقامة في مكان معين"
"The one who is permanently settling in a certain place"Hence why in Islamic tradition, the garden of Eden is named such, since it is a place of permanent residence in the afterlife for those who are allowed entry.I hope the bit about the root and more clarity for the name's meaning can be added! I think it sounds similar enough to certain English names (Arden, Alden) to work as a name in English speaking countries as well.
