I love this name. This is the middle name of one of the greatest American poets (and my favorite), Edgar Allan Poe.

My cousin's name is Allan, and she is a girl, so this name can also be feminine. We call her Ally for short. Personally, though, I find it much more appealing masculine.

The comment about this being feminine is pathetic.

Allan is so much better than Alan. Allan is stirring and gorgeous, while Alan is just simply boring.

I personally like this name. Not only because the spelling is somewhat more appealing and masculine than Alan or Allen, but also because it's the name of my love. I don't see the name as feminine however.

This name is very masculine and strong name, when I hear it I immediately picture a handsome guy. What I like about this name is that it is elegant without sounding forced or pretentious. I think this is the perfect name for any boy or grown man, because it's youthful yet classic.
