Aneurin Bevan was a sort of famous bearer of the name, depends on whether or not you're into politics or not.

This name is pronounced 'An-Eye-Rin' and the short or 'pet' form of this name is Nye/Ni (rhyming with high).

In North Wales this would be said 'An-NAY-rin'.

I think this is quite a nice Welsh name; there is also a feminine version of the name, Aneira, which I believe was also the name of the first baby born under the National Health Service in the UK. The baby was a girl, and the nurses asked the mother whether she would consider naming her after the founder of the NHS, Aneuron Bevan, and so they named her Aneira. :-)
