The meaning is alright, but I hate this name, how can it fit anybody? I hate it as well as it is a surname. If you name your child old man, disgusting names like Arnold, Lee, etc, you are a horrible parent, mean and cruel!
No! I hate this name. Yucky spelling and pronunciation.
Very solid and dependable.
It does sound old and grumpy indeed, but in a funny and harmless way. It also reminds me of almonds.
Arnold is a family name for me. Every year we attend the Arnold Family Reunion at a South Carolina State Park. My new grandson is not only an Arnold descendent but is an Arnaud! His proud papa is the Arnaud, so he has a double dose of the Eagle heritage.
As much as I dislike Arnold Schwarzenegger and Benedict Arnold, I can't help but love the meaning of this name. Eagle power. Man that's badass. Plus Hey Arnold! Was one of my favorite shows growing up.
Sounds like an old, grumpy man's name to me.
I don't like any of the names that end in ld - Arnold, Ronald or Donald. They sound wimpy and old fashioned. Also, unfortunately too many of they have been associated with cartoon characters.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has utterly ruined this name for me. He's the only Arnold I can think of, so the name is ruined. I hate the silly nickname Arnie too.
