Meaning & History

This name combines 弁/辨 (hen, ben, araso.u, hanabira, wakima.eru, wa.keru) meaning "dialect, speech, petal" or 勉 (ben, tsuto.meru) meaning "exertion" with 次 (shi, ji, tsugi, tsu.gu) meaning "next, second," 治 (ji, chi, osa.ma/eru, nao.su/ru) meaning "cure, heal, rule" or 二 (ji, ni, futa(.tsu), futata.bi) meaning "two" and 郎 (ryou, rou, otoko) meaning "son."

This name was occasionally used from the late Edo Period (1603-1868) to the first half of the 20th century but nowadays, it is very rarely given to boys, if given at all.
