Calhoun Mooney is a character in Clive Barker's novel Weaveworld. He is a bored young man, whose life alternates between his job at an insurance company in Liverpool and his homing pigeons, until he encounters the mysterious rug that instantly strikes him as something peculiar. Cal gets entangled in a magical adventure he never dreamt of. Read it. It's a good book.

Calhoun Blaire, who goes by Cal, is a character in the series Sweep by Cate Tiernan. In the first few books, we think he is the hero, but it is later revealed that he is actually a villain.
Cal IS a nickname for Callum/Calum. I know many Callum/Calums, and they all go by Cal.

In the book "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck, one of the characters, Caleb Trask, is known as Cal. In the movie adaptation, Cal was played famously by James Dean.
Cal Ripkin, Jr. is a former Major League Baseball shortstop and third baseman. He played his entire 21-year baseball career for the Baltimore Orioles and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
