Celia de Fréine is a poet, playwright, screenwriter and librettist who writes in Irish and English. Celia de Fréine was born in Newtownards, County Down. At an early age she moved with her family to Dublin, maintaining strong links with her extended family in the North. She was educated at University College Dublin and Lancaster University. She has worked as a Civil Servant and as a teacher and now divides her time between Dublin and Connemara.
A famous fictional Celia is Mike's girlfriend in the Disney Pixar movie "Monsters, Inc." I can't believe someone hasn't mentioned her. She is a one-eyed secretary with snakes for hair. I like the name, it's very pretty.
There is a YA novel titled 'Feeling Sorry for Celia' by Jaclyn Moriarty.

This name has been ruined for me ever since reading "The Lady's Dressing Room" by Jonathan Swift, where the girl Celia is described in the most disgusting ways.
Celia Rees is a novelist who has written timeless novels such as 'Witch Child', 'Sorceress' and 'Pirates'. She is a truly talented author, and her books are really well written.
A couple of other literary bearers: a character in _Capulets and Montagues_ a famous early 17th century play by Lope de Vega, which, as the name suggests, is a different take on the Romeo and Juliet story. Also, in George Eliot's famous novel _Middlemarch_, the heroine's (Dorothea) sister is called Celia. However, I've never come across a Celia who plays a major role. Has anyone?
