Meaning & History

Derived from the Greek noun δαμασήνωρ (damasenor) meaning "man-slaying", which consists of the Greek verb δαμάζω (damazo) meaning "to tame, to subdue, to overpower, to kill" (see Damasos) and the Greek noun ἀνήρ (aner) meaning "man".

This name was borne by an ancient Greek tyrant of Miletus from the 6th century BC.
