This is the name of the youngest, and cutest, member of the Warner Trio (Yakko, Wakko and Dot) on the 90s cartoon "Animaniacs".

In Stephen Sondheim's play, Sunday in the Park with George, Dot (played by Bernadette Peters) is the lover of George. She is the woman who appears in the front of the painting the play was based on, A Sunday Afternoon on La Grande Jette by George Seraut. She marries Louis the baker while pregnant with George's child. As far as I know, the actual woman in that painting bore no similarity to the character Dot.

Infantile. Sounds like a name for a dog. Would lead to jokes today.

Too simplistic. I can't imagine this as a legal name. But I have some fondness for it because of the character from Animaniacs.

If dot means the same thing as period then this name is just disgusting.

Dot Matrix is one of the main characters from the 90's cartoon, ReBoot. (Dot Matrix is also a type of printer.)

I always thought this was different in a nice way. Since every Dot I've met has been older, it's always nice to come across it in a sea of Marys and Cathies. It stands out.
