I like this name somewhat, but I wish it didn't remind me of eggplant🍆😢.
The eg beginning is unattractive but I like the lantine part of the name.
For some reason, this name seems more like a drink.
Eglantine is so lovely and refined, though I can only see myself using this name for a book character. I love its meaning in French, wild rose. (I also love the Guardians of Ga’Hoole reference)
This sounds like the name of a nutrition drink.
Let’s face it, it’s an ugly name! It’s got that hideous EGG at the beginning and sounds like a drink.
Much better then Briar for a girl. I like it, and she could be Tina or Lena.
I read the Guardians of Ga'Hoole, and have loved this name ever since! I love how it is so cute for a little one and can still sound sophisticated for a adult. I'm definitely going to name a pet, if not a daughter, this.
To me, it sounds like something you'd order for breakfast. "Can I have the Eglantine with toast?" That's all I think of, unfortunately.
Sounds like a food or a drink..."I'm having Eglantine for dinner' or 'I'm drinking Eglantine'\: I can't get over how much this name makes me laugh.
A beautiful name! The "Guardians of Ga'hoole" books are a positive association to me. :)
Pretty, but a bit cumbersome and outdated these days, even by my standards. It would work well for the plucky heroine of a Gothic novel, though.
I just love this name! I loved it more after seeing Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole :)
Flower names are pretty trendy now, and Eglantine is a great alternative to overused ones. It makes me think of tea and cupcakes.
Ugly, and the only nickname I can think of is 'Eggie.'
Elegant Eglantine! A refreshing alternative to the less original, more popular Evangeline. Nicknames for Eglantine could be: Glenna or Glen; Tina; Lena; Letty; or Glee. : )
Brilliant name! Love Bedknobs and Broomsticks! Angela Lansbury's amazing (Eglantine, Eglantine, oh how you shine.) :D
I like the name "Sweetbrier" better than "Eglantine."
The full name sounds a bit snobby, and the girl would probably be called Eggie or something.
This would probably sound like a Briticism to American ears. To me, it sounds like one of those names used occasionally by the Victorians. I'm yet another one to avoid using a name like Eglantine.
I know an Eglantine, but since she is not American it is pronounced more like "AUG-lahn-teen". I don't think I would ever use the name personally, but I have very good associations with it and I would love to meet little Eglantines every now and then.
Could be pretty but the EGG sound is a bit much.
I love this name! It sounds like eggplant, but I don't mind.
