I seem to recall reading somewhere that Emmet meant something like 'a small stream' in Irish usage.
In the Bible, it does indeed mean 'truth'.
Could the name Emmett have roots in Hebrew?

Emmet is a derogatory word for a tourist in Cornwall.
I have always been told that EMMETT means "Industrious" or more directly “like an ant” or “look to the ant”.
Means "truth" in Hebrew.
