From Japanese 拳 (gen) meaning "fist", 元 (gen) meaning "beginning, former time, origin", 弦 (gen) meaning "bowstring, chord, hypotenuse" or 玄 (gen) meaning "mysterious, occultness, black, deep, profound" combined with 哉 (ya), an exclamation, 也 (ya) meaning "also", 矢 (ya) meaning "dart, arrow", 弥 (ya) meaning "all the more, increasingly" or 冶 (ya) meaning "melting, smelting".
