Since I'm of Italian descent, I don't know why any ethical person would use an Italian last name as a first name. It looks ignorant.

It's usually used as a middle name (middle names sometimes come from last names) for the first name Maria.

Goretti would look marvelous as a middle name if the first one is Beatrice. That way, they would nickname her ''Betty Goretty''!

Goretto is an obscure Italian form of Gregory, so I believe Goretti is ultimately derived from the Greek 'Gregorios'. [noted -ed]
