Meaning & History

Technically, this name doesn't mean anything since it is written in kana.

One fictional bearer of this name is Hatori Sōma (草摩 はとり), a character from the popular manga and anime series, Fruits Basket. In this case, the creator, Natsuki Takaya derived his name from the fourth month of the Japanese calendar (konohatorizuki/konohatoridzuki (木葉採月/このはとりづき), which is a rare form of the word for the fourth month, which would usually be uzuki/udzuki (卯月/うづき)). The derivation means "month of taking leaves of trees."

While it's not used as an actual name in Japan, it is used as a surname.
