This name sounds almost like some type of great-grandfather name nowadays, and I would question the sanity, as well as the taste, of parents who named their son Irwin today. It has that long schwa sound and everything, and it sounds quite geeky. The really hilarious thing is that some Finnish rock singer or whatever chose the stage name Irwin Goodman for himself. He just couldn't pick a cool first name and a cool surname, now could he? At least he tormented people with his ''music'' before I came into this world, in 1985, for what it's worth, but sheesh, the name already sounded dated back then! This name must always have sounded middle-aged, even on little kids.
