My impression of Jared is someone who tries hard and never gives up and no matter how many times he falls he has the courage in him to get right back up.

This is a very nice cultural name. I myself am not Jewish, although everyone else thinks I am, when they're not calling me Jerry, Derek, or Garritt.

The name Jared means ruler or one who rules. In my experience the name is worthy of a King. The young gentleman I know with this name has the style, intelligence, compassion and strength to rule a nation.

I grew up with a boy named Jared who used to live down the street from me, so when I hear this name he's the first person I think of. It also makes me think of the guy who lost a bunch of weight on the Subway diet (which isn't a bad thing!). In the long run, I do like this name a lot.

Jared is a handsome rugged sounding name. I really like it and it isn't over used either which is nice.

Jared has always sounded to me like a sweet yet strong person. Regardless of its true meaning, as a result of my first love bearing this name, "Jared" will forever mean "sweetness" and "beloved" to me.

Jared Fogle, is, of course, the famous Subway diet guy. Has anyone else noticed that he's started to put on weight again?

I named my first born son Jared (15). He, like his name, is strong, protective, and beautiful. This name fits him well.

I was going to be named Jared if I was a boy and, quite frankly, I am exceedingly glad that I'm a girl. What would you call someone named Jared? Jarry? uck.

I think Jared is a very handsome name. I've only known two Jareds in my life and both of them are wonderful people.
-- joanie2007  8/17/2007
Actually, I like this name. But it is too common and I think the meaning is kind of boring.
-- CharlieRob  10/1/2007
I really like this name, but I can never remember how to spell it. I always type 'Jerod'. Probably from watching Labyrinth too much.

I've always wanted to name a son Jared, but my wife doesn't like it. She went to school with a lot of guys with the name, but I haven't known too many people with this name myself.

My husband's name is Jared and he is everything that has been mentioned a strong rugged man who is very caring. It annoys him that people can’t spell his name and keep spelling it Jarrod. In a very Aussie accent he says “JA RED mate not GER ARD not JA ROD, you say it like you spell it!”.
-- Anonymous User  7/13/2010
Good for someone who is a US marine (jarhead, get it? Har-har). Otherwise, it's a strange name which just leaves that "jarred" feeling in you.

Sadly, this name (and all other spellings) has shifted from a lovely Biblical name to a bogan name here in Australia. It's all football's fault, with so many players carrying the name.

Jared ( Irish ), also known to mean "rose ". Found this meaning in the same book of baby names 16 years ago. I remember liking "rose" better as the meaning of Jared, than the other meanings! It's my eldest sons middle name... so I must have been happy with the meaning as well as the name! : )
-- arnishelly  1/18/2013
Makes me think of Jared from Friday Night Cranks (:
