I like this name when pronounced with *three* syllables. I go batty when people call out JER-mee (or worse: GER-mee, as if the guy is some infectious leper); it makes my eyes twitch. *chuckles* But, hey, to each their own. If you like the shorter pronunciation... ((shrugs))

I have always loved this name. It is gentle but still masculine sounding.

Jeremy is an awesome name for a boy, rugged, handsome and gentle. I prefer it over Jeremiah.

Jeremy is the name of a song by the music group Pearl Jam.
I like this name okay but it is so common I don't think I would call my child this. I like the sound and meaning, though. Interesting (or important) that the prophet Jeremiah's name meant this even though he had such a hard life.

I can never pronounce this name right. EVER! I always say germy, I don't mean it offesivly! It just comes out like that. I tried to say his name how everybody else says it, and I totally slaughtered it! It sounds bad when I pronounce it germy, but it sounds even worse when I try to say it right!

Actor Jeremy Irons. He played in films such as Lolita (1997), The Merchant of Venice, Casanova, the Man in the Iron Mask, and many more.
Jeremy Hillary Boob, PhD. is a character in the Beatles' fourth and only animated film, Yellow Submarine. Jeremy both helps and hinders the Beatles throughout their journey, and is a self-described "eminent physicist, polygot classicist, prize-winning botanist, hard-biting satirist, talented pianist, good dentist, too!" He only speaks in rhyme. His philosophy can be best described as, "So little time, so much to know!"
This is basically the 1980s version of Liam: a common, long-standing British name that became overly trendy in the U.S. There are worse names, but this is very dated, at least in North America.
When I was growing up, there was a kid down the street named Jeremy. We definitely called him Germ-y, but he and my brother were kind of pranksters. Just sayin'. People always want to know the derogatory nicknames on this site.
If you have a really sweet genuine kid, the name Jeremy shouldn't be a problem. If he turns out obnoxious or wild, be prepared for Germy and kids to thinking he is dirty and not want to come near him.
This is my father's name, except he spells it Jeramie. I've always thought his spelling was unique, though he does often have problems with people spelling it crazy wrong. I like the spelling Jeremy too, but I'm partial to Jeramie.
I like the name Jeremy because it's different and original. I have only met 2 Jeremy's in my life, 1 of which is my boyfriend. I think to have a name like Jeremy, the surname has to fit perfectly with it. But, all in all, it is an awesome name :D

I love this name, but it takes a certain type of man to make it work. It's seen as a bit of a 'dorky' name, I understand, but I can just as easily picture a boy named Jeremy becoming popular at school. It's also the name of a family friend, so it sort of has a special meaning to me.
Jeremy Delle was a student at Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas. In January 1991, he shot himself in front of his English class. He is part of the inspiration for the Pearl Jam song, "Jeremy" (the other part being a kid that lead singer Eddie Vedder knew in middle school).
