Comments for the name Jernej

Comments for JERNEJ:

I think the name derives from the Hungarian Jernö (Jerne), which means Irenäus (Irene). Jernej is very far from Bartolomew.

No, it definitely is a form of Bartholomew, which itself means Son of Talmai.

[can someone please translate this? - ed]

Translation of the footnote:
1 It is already known that by the Slovenes Saint Bartholomew has got his name from Saint Irenaeus.
