This is proof that Justin is not a full name.
I always liked this and thought it had a cute, boyish sound.
Although I am aware it is a historical name, I think it would have the risk of coming off as a made-up, elaborate form of Justin... as if the parents tacked the "-ian" on the end for it to sound more "heroic." As the other member mentioned, Justinian looks a little pretentious and inflated.
I don't see anything wrong with the name; I quite like it. :) I think it's a great alternative to the ever so popular "Justin". A little bit annoying however that some consider "Justinian" as "pretentious" or even feminine sounding! Moreover, be aware how people may think it's a combination of "Justin" and "Ian"- uh, no... that's soo incorrect! >:(
This would be an interesting choice for Orthodox Christian parents with all he did for Christianity during his reign, notably constructing the Hagia Sophia (though that's no longer a church).
