Meaning & History

Derived from the Greek noun κάλλος (kallos) meaning "beauty, nobility" combined with the Greek noun τέλος (telos) meaning "purpose, aim, goal" as well as "completion, accomplishment, fulfillment" (see Aristotle).

A known bearer of this name was the Olympic victor Kalliteles of Sparta. He had won the wrestling contest during the 68th Olympiad in 508 BC.
