Kaori was a popular Japanese name for girls.It entered the top 10 in 1973. It peaked at #3 in 1982 and left the top 10 after 1988.香織 (ka + weaving) is the most popular spelling.
This name (when used in the USA) is not always bestowed on Japanese-Americans. I know because I happen to have met a non-Japanese girl of around six years old. This name is also used in the excellent young adult book, 'Hello, Universe', where it does belong to a Japanese girl.
Kaori was given to 38 baby girls and 5 baby boys born in the USA (2016).
Kaori was given to 26 baby girls born in the USA (2015).
In the USA (2014) 31 girls were given Kaori.
