Along with Kathyrn, this is my favourite spelling of the name (I basically consider myself trans, and can't stand my official name). Think Katharine is pretty rare in the UK. It's more girly than Katherine, which I find a bit boring.
The A looks terrible.
I don't like the A even though it's not noticeable. I think the E looks more professional.
Katharine is beautiful and established, and the spelling is more interesting than the usual Katherine. It's less common and looks bolder.
This is my middle name and I love it! Sometimes I wish it were my first because it is so classic and beautiful. I think my parents just preferred this spelling over the others with no special significance behind it, but I love the connection to Katharine Hepburn. Maybe I’m biased, but I do prefer this spelling over the others, but because of my experience having a first name that is also a lesser used alternate spelling, I would be hesitant to bestow Katharine as a first name on a child. It gets pretty tedious to spell out your name all the time.
This is my name, it certainly is spelled wrong a lot but I think it looks a lot prettier than Katherine.
I am a Katharine. I love my name, though it is most definitely often misspelled. I've found that it is also mispronounced on occasion: sometimes I hear "Kath-uh-reen". Very annoying! My family calls me Kathy, though with friends I am often Kat, and in formal situations I am Katharine; I quite like having this variety!
I am British and this spelling is very unusual in the UK. My mother was a great fan of Katharine Hepburn and an older cousin is called Catherine so I was called Katharine. I have hated the name in all its variants ever since I can remember. I changed my name as soon as I could (age 11). I have a surname nobody can spell, so to have a first name that people always got wrong as well was just too much. I don't think there is a correct way of spelling the name and I once counted 9 different spellings and that did not include variants, diminutives or derivatives.
I am named Katharine, and I hate it. Everyone spells it incorrectly, even when it is written in front of them - nobody ever looks; and the shortenings are just awful. I hate Kate, and Katie, and Kat, and Kathy. Yuck! Also, I was only ever called Katharine by my family when I was in trouble, or to put me down. It's horrid. I am about to change my name to something better. Please, it may look nice, but don't use this spelling for your child, nobody will ever get it right. If you must use it, please don't use the full name to patronise them or when they are in trouble.
One of my absolute favorite names, and I prefer this spelling (but just slightly) over Katherine. I'm probably going to use it on my daughter because it has familial connections (my grandmothers are named Kathleen and Carolyn), and it suits any age. I reeeeally dislike the nickname Katie, though.
I prefer Katherine. This name isn't bad, though.
My first name is Katharine. I prefer this spelling, and my mother picked it because she named me after her favorite actress, Katharine Hepburn. If you are named this however, many people will want to spell it "Catherine" or "Katherine", so I usually end up having to spell it for people. There are many good nicknames for this name. When I was a child, I went by Katy, but as I got older I started going by Kate, as it sounds more mature.
I am a Katharine. While it is VERY annoying when people misspell it as Katherine, is is a very lovely name. Nicknames can be Kat, Katie, Kate, Kath, Kathy, Arin, Rin, Thar, Ari, Kit Kat, etc. It's a great name. I highly recommend that if you are thinking of naming your daughter Katharine, DO NOT use it as an "in trouble" name (you know the drill, reciting a child's full name). It ruined the name for me for a long time. Katharine is a regal name, and I'm a proud Katharine!
Katharine is my favorite name. I like this spelling better than Katherine or Kathryn because the "a" makes it look more feminine. It also makes it more unusual without being too creative like Kahthurynne or something. The best nicknames are Kat and Kate.
I LOVE this spelling! The main reason I like it is because my Great-Grandmother spelled her name this way. If ever have a daughter, I would consider nameing her Katharine (nickname Kate). I think Kat makes a great nickname too, but seeing as Kat (short for Kathleen) is my mother's name, I wouldn't use it.
I agree that this spelling is much prettier and feminine than Katherine, and I really hate the Kathryn spelling, it's just awful.
This is my first name, and I really love it - I was named after Katharine Hepburn. I always think spelling it this way makes people think tomboy, which in my case is true. Be warned though, if you call a child this - everyone will spell it Katherine.
This name is really growing on me. I like this spelling best, and I think a cute nickname would be Kat.
Katherine looks ugly and unfeminine, but Katharine looks pretty and feminine.
