The first element is possibly derived from the imperial rank Khan that was first used among certain Turkic peoples; khan is a contraction of khagan which means "ruler, sovereign". The second element consists of the name Sultan. A bearer of this name was Chechen war veteran Khansultan Dachiyev (also Dachiev), who was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union in 1943.
