I believe that Kleio was pronounced KLY-o in Greek. At least wikipedia gives that pronunciation.
My favourite name, it's beautiful. I see it on a woman with long dark hair and hazel eyes.
I only like this name for a cat.
I love this name, it's so powerful and strong, but also delicate and kind.
I really like this name. I also really like Cleo.
Gorgeous. The pronunciation stills me.
The correct pronunciation is as follows in Greek: K (as in key), L (as in let), ee (as in see), AW (as in law), so thus Klee-AW. I could see this easily Anglicizing to Klee-oh or CLAY-oh in English.
I like this name so much more than Cleo and especially Chloe/Khloe. A lot of names from Greek mythology are nice.
Can also be spelled Klio. Klio is the modern transcription, while Kleio is the original mythological one.
This is indeed correct! Ancient Greek -ei- becomes -i- in modern Greek:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_orthography (in English)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_alphabet#Letters (in English)Since Klio is the actual modern Greek form, it would be sensible for the webmaster to remove the usage of "Greek" from the entry for Kleio.Alternatively, he can keep the usage of "Greek" and mention that in the case of modern Greek, Kleio is an alternate transcription. He did virtually the same for names like Aristeidis, Eirini and Foteini:https://www.behindthename.com/names/usage/greek/pattern/*ei* (in English) [noted -ed]
At first glance, I too believed this to be pronounced just like Chleo. But then I looked at it closely and now believe it to be pronounced clay-oh as well.I don't know why, but this seems like it'd be the name of a mermaid. Just saying.
It is pronounced clay-oh.
I adore the name Kleio for a little girl. It's pretty and unique.
I thought it was used like 'Cleo'.
