This is my name and I personally really like it, I especially like the nickname Lace. It makes me a little mad when people spell it Lacy or Laci, though I think those names are cute too.
Masculine? Ew no.
This name reminds me of shoe laces. It’s still a really cute girly name though. I think I like Macey a little more.
My name is Lacey Lynn and I have always liked having the name Lacey because I feel like it fits me well, (although I've always despised Lacey and Lynn together). The most important reason why I've always liked my name is a sentimental one. It was one of the only things my mother was ever able to give to me because she passed away when I was only a year old so I cherish the name she gave me.
I like Lacey! I think the name Lacey Leigh is so cute for a little girl.
NO. Lacy is only a little better.
It’s an okay enough name but the one thing that really lets it down for me is it’s almost identical in sound to “lazy”.
Too childish. I can only imagine it on a pet.
Sounds juvenile.
Sorry, but it sounds like a stripper and/or white trash name. It would be cute for a dog or cat, though.
Cloyingly cute and "girly," like Paisley; I just cannot take it seriously on a grown woman. There are a lot of beautiful, "delicate" sounding, names that'll age much more gracefully. I do like Lacey cookies though!
This is a girl's name. I'm sorry but this does not at all seem like a boy's name. I'm sure Lacey was a sort of surname from back when but times have changed. An adorable girl's name this is that makes me depict a really bubbly, happy girl. Please refrain from spelling this name any other way, that's just asking for eye rolls. -edit- I forgot to add I cannot imagine this name for an old lady it kind of makes me cringe but change my mind. I want this to be okay on a old lady.
It's a beautiful name but I've known a few that were druggies so it would be hard to like this name. It's light and girly and hard to take seriously.
More for a dog... cutesy frilly, feminine. But I can't see a senior called Lacey... ugh!
OK, so all the people on here need to shut up on saying this name is too girly or trashy or it reminds you of a shoe lace. First of all there are so many strong independent women on here that are named Lacey. Second of all if you say that Lacey reminds you of a sweet, innocent name- how would you come up with the idea of trashy. Third of all y'all need to be careful of what you say about people's names on here. I know this because when I was younger kids used to bully me and call me "shoe lace", so just think before you post. If your name is LACEY rock on!
I have had this name for 32 years, and I absolutely LOVE my name! I think that many of the comments regarding this name are very closed-minded and dare I say ignorant. A name does not define a person's character, and I am not what one would consider "prissy" although I am a lady. Since I was a young child, I have been very strong-willed and shown my independence. I am happy that my name isn't a cookie cutter name that was given to a majority of the girls I went to school with or have even interacted with throughout my life. Good luck finding it on a personalized item, but I still appreciate that it isn't overly used either. None of your hateful comments will make me like my name any less :)
I think Lacey is a beautiful name, so classy. If I ever had a boy he would be a Lucas and for a girl, Lacey. If there are any Lacey's reading the comments above, take no notice of the horrible remarks.
Lace is thought of as feminine so people think a woman wears lace gloves, has a lace veil, has a lace dress, etc. Feminine personalities are called Lacey, not masculine. I have met one Lacey girl, no boys. In America, it is feminine, and basically, Lace isn't manly, so Lacey isn't either.
So I am a 21 year old MALE named Lacey Fitzpatrick. To be honest, I feel like it's the manliest name around but maybe that's cause I've lived with it for 21 years and it is what I make it. Anyways, just wanted to let anybody who couldn't picture a guy named Lacey know that your name is what you make it- trust me. Sure I was ridiculed as a child even by my own teachers in front of classes but for some reason now, when I tell people my name no one says anything, and if they did I'd laugh and tell them my name's more manly then their original ass -Brandon-Brad-or Daniel shit. Maybe it's the confidence in me, who knows but I do believe it was a male name in Ireland. My grandfather was also named Lacey. He lived his whole life as a hard ass too, so I doubt it affected him either. I sure don't want to put the females down that have the name, it's unisex, but for me I feel personally it's a very manly name.
This name is another favorite of mine and has been for a long time! Our middle daughter is Laicee Elise, and I much prefer that spelling. Lacey seems too blocky and plain. But the name itself is beautiful!
Lacey reminds me of the Victorian age and old fashioned. It's a name to honor the past! Aka early 1900s!
I love the name Lacey. It's cute and perfect for a girl.
After reading some of these comments I just had to leave my very own! My name is Lacey, I'm 23 and have always LOVED my name. I was happy to see so many positive opinions from previous years and also that many of you think of this name as feminine and elegant. I myself would completely have to agree and if that's not the perfect embodiment of my personality, I don't know what is! :)
What a stupid name. Makes me think of lacy, sexy underwear.
I can't beleive 'Lacy' is labled as unisex. I can not, for the life of me, picture this name on a male.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a really a fan of this name, but it's definitely belongs to the females.
Same with Tracey and Stacey and such.
For those of you saying you can't imagine a strong woman having this name: Personality of the Girl Name Lacey
The number one personality is a leader - strong and competitive. They are willing to initiate action and take risks. One personalities work hard toward their endeavors and have the ability to apply their creative and innovative thinking skills with strong determination. They believe in their ability to succeed and are too stubborn to be hindered by obstacles. Ones meet obstacles head-on with such mental vigor and energy that you better step aside. They resent taking orders, so don't try telling them what to do either. This is an intensely active personality, but they are also known as starters rather than finishers. They have a propensity to become bored and will move quickly to the next project if not properly challenged. They are the ones to think up and put into action new and brilliant ideas, but they are not the ones to stick around and manage them. This personality has an enthusiastic and pioneering spirit. They are distinctly original. Now for my opinion, my name is very beautiful and elegant and in no way trashy. Thank you very much. I'm a young 18 year old woman who just graduated high school, who was a straight A student and I will be attending college at the end of this month for medical. I have my head on straight and I'm very motivated. This description fits me perfectly. Yes, my name is girly and prissy which I'm only prissy when the bitch in me comes out like all women. Again, thank you. And I don't feel my name is childish at all. I've grown into it perfectly and I am the definition of Lacey. I'm very cheerful and giggly. Also very lovable. I have a huge heart. Lacey as a boy's name however? I do not agree. It's not masculine at all. I'd laugh at a boy named Lacey and ask him, while giggling, to please give me my name back as it fits me better. Lol. I've met a few other Lacey's in my life who were trashy and I felt as though they gave my name a bad reputation. Lacey did not fit them at all and I disliked their personality. I love my name and wouldn't change it. Ever. This will sound silly but my mother named me Lacey because when she was in middle school she had a pair of very Lacey shoes so everyone called her Lacey. Low and behold she named her first child, her daughter, Lacey. I think it's beautiful and fits me well. So all of your negativity is not needed here. Byeee. :)
For those who have nasty comments such as "Lacey is a trashy name" and "I can't imagine a strong woman named Lacey" you are so misinformed and narrow minded. I am a very strong woman in my 30's and LOVE my name as it took months for my parents to decide after suffering from many miscarriages and my mother being in a severe car accident when she was 8 1/2 months pregnant with me. So keep the nastiness to yourself, positivity is contagious and I pray you catch it.
To all the people saying that this name is prissy, you're just stupid! Let's hear your name!
Lacey is my name and I love the meaning. It's beautiful as well as me, not to sound conceited, but it fits me perfectly. I am very cheerful and loveable and fun. I cannot see this being a mans name, but to each their own... and to all u "anonymous" users, I am most certainly not a 40 year old prostitute- not even close! And to @kirluci whats your name? Probably stupid as hell! Lacey is a beautiful name and I am very proud to have it! Anyways, I'm done ranting for now but just to, we don't need your drama or stupidity! Love L A C E Y! Muahhh and to all the Lacey's good goin! Your name is beautiful and don't let anyone tell you different! One love peace.
Makes me think of shoe laces, so no.
I might be the only one who thinks this, but Lacey is such a trashy name. It's extremely dated and makes me think of a 40 year old white trash prostitue. It's a cute name for a dog though!
Why does it say this name can be used for either gender? For a girl, it's a beautiful, elegant name. For a boy, it's awful - like naming a girl Jonathon or some other masculine name.
This is one of my favourite names, and I plan on using it for a character in a story. The only drawback is that people might mispronounce it "lazy" or something similar.
Meh... not good not bad. Sounds cute, but I wouldn't want to name my kid after frilly embroidery.
My name is Lacey and I always liked my name while I was growing up. Now that I'm an adult, I still like it. I don't feel that my name is prissy but that could be because I'm not prissy. I like the fact that it means "cheerful" because I'm a very happy person and I love to laugh and joke around with my friends.
This was a name I liked when I was a lot younger, but now I just think it sounds kind of fluffy and insubstantial. There's also the unfortunate association with murder victim Laci Peterson.
What a frivolous, stupid name. Yuck.
Despite the fact that it sounds maybe a bit too girly, unless the girl named Lacey is always in pink, I really like this name. I like most -cey names: Tracey, Stacey, and Darcey, the sound is just very soft and feminine. Lacey is best with a longer, slightly "harder" sounding names, they balance out the airy sound. But this is a difficult name to choose a middle name for, because if the name is too short, it sounds like Lacey is an adjective describing the name for example lacy Gabrielle or lacy Jennifer.
I really like this name but I could never use it because I associate it with Lacey Peterson, a murder victim.
I don't like this name because it sounds horrible. I don't like names that I think sound lacy like Lacey or Amelia.
I would find it very odd to meet a male person named Lacey. Lacey clothing, Lacey Washington, Lacey as a girl's name. It's amazing how it seems the lest bit masculine.
It's a pretty name but only if it's short for something.
I really like this name. I think it sounds pretty & elegant. I certainly think a female would grow into the name & it would therefore suit an adult. If my next child is a girl this name is a strong contender.
Lacey is too prissy to be taken seriously as a name. To me, it is the name you give a child when you aren't creative enough to think of anything better. It is an adjective for overdone clothing, not a name.
To me, this name sounds strictly feminine, and I'd find it amusing if a guy was named Lacey. The name is admittedly very cute, but I have my doubts about how well it would suit a grown-up. It's not the most infantile name out there, but it is a bit cutesy and girly.
Besides Casey, I don't think a boy should be named anything with -asey, -acey, or -aycee on the end. Too prissy for a boy.
Hmm. Although it's true it's sweet and cute I just think it sounds prissy. It's probably because I knew a girl in my dance class named Lacey who was prissy and rude, so don't take offense. Besides that, I also can't imagine a strong, bold woman being named Lacey. It might be good for a fairy or in a story, though.
Lacey is a cute soft name. I think of a sweet girl when I think of that name. Maybe because it's my sister's name. I love that name. It fits her very well.
I think this is a cute name. On the one hand it does sound soft and frilly and maybe too childish for an adult, but then the fact that it is an old surname gives it more strength.
My cousin is named Annalace, as in Queen Anne's Lace. I think it's an interesting alternative if you like this name because of the "lace" bit.
Worse than Tracey! I think this sounds trashy. To each his own.
Cute name.
When you're in primary school you get called lazy! But I still like it! It's LAYCEEE not LAYZEE.
I cannot imagine a boy with this name, but I LOVE it as a girl name!
Lacey has always seemed "forever little girl" and kind of prissy to me.
It is a tad too whimsical for my taste.
I like this name, it's very cute.
I'm writing a story about a girl named Lacey. I think it's a very nice name.
I just love this name, it is so pretty and delicate. I heard it once on a little girl about 13 years ago but never again.
Extremely beautiful name. The "lace" sound makes it sound elegant. If I had a daughter I would certainly consider this name.
My name is Lacey. I think it's a nice name but I don't like being called it!
I love this name! It's very feminine, (doesn't strike me as a masculine name.) My impression: it's very lady-like, pretty, fairy-like, elegant and not so overly used.
