In The 1978 "Key To Time" Series of Doctor Who, Madame Lamia was the name of the beautiful villainess who assisted the main villain in the fourth episode of the season, "The Androids of Tara". Lamia was portrayed by actress Lois Baxter.

I really love the name and its history, but I would be afraid to use it in an English-speaking country because it is very close to the word "lame", and I can imagine a poor little girl being horribly teased. It's a real shame though, because it is a beautiful, powerful, and unique name.
