Lorana seems to have been known in the USA before this name. I have been looking (not for names!) through a Scottish provincial newspaper, the Fife Herald, dated 19 February 1846. On page 4, from an unnamed American newspaper, it quotes advice to young men regarding getting a wife and settling down in domestic bliss. One sentence goes, in part: "... a host of Susans, Sarahs, Maries, Loranas, Olivias, Elizas, Betsies, Peggies, and Dorothies..." Of course, a printer may have mistaken somebody's handwriting of Lorena for Lorana, but it's still an interesting find regarding the date of what seems to imply quite common usage. Pretty name.
In 2018, 30 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Lorena who is registered female with the Social Security Administration. It is the 1, 049th most common female first name for living U.S. citizens.
The name Lorena was given to 191 girls born in the US in 2015.
