Two Swedish queens have born this name. Queen Lovisa Ulrika, princess of Prussia (1720-1782) and Queen Lovisa, princess of Netherlands (1828-1871). Lovisa is also a town in Finland, named after Queen Lovisa Ulrika (Finland was a part of Sweden at this time).
Lovis is another, newer version. It was used by Astrid Lindgren in her book Ronia the Robber's Daughter, and has taken off in popularity. I'm not sure if Lindgren thought of it herself, or had heard it somewhere.

It's quite an elegant-sounding name, like a great noble lady.
