This is pretty popular in Sweden now. I know some parents in the past that have struggled against the nickname Ludde, famous from a children's song about little Ludde who comes carrying his pillow (kudde).

I pronounce it like LUDD-vigg.

I love the name Ludvig so much! It is so cute on a little boy, yet great and upper-class (classy) on an adult! Ludvig is actually an Old Norse name; follow the link on and you will see Ludvig is very Nordic! I also like Malte, from Helmold, yet another Ancient German, Nordic name. Ludvig and Malte.
