Meaning & History

The second element of this name is derived from Greek ανδρος (andros) meaning "of a man". The first element is a little bit uncertain, in that there are two possibilities available for it. The first possibility is that it is derived from Greek λυκου (lykou) "of a wolf", which itself is ultimately derived from Greek λύκος (lykos) "wolf". The second possibility is that it is derived from Greek λύκη (lyke), which can mean "light" as well as "morning sunshine".
