My best friend is named Miyako. She was born & raised in Japan; despite what indicates, her name has no special meaning in modern Japanese. Though I personally think it's a beautiful name. :)

Miyazaki Miyako is a famous bearer of this name. She was Miss Japan 2003 for the Miss Universe competition and is best known for making it to the finalists. Her name is written with the kanji for 'capital city'.

Miyako, using 美夜子, didn't make it to the top 1000 in 2014.
The only Miyako that is in the top 1000 is the one with 都 which is in 854th place.

She is best known for her work in the Ice Ribbon promotion, where she is a former one-time ICE×60, three-time Triangle Ribbon Champion and a two-time International Ribbon Tag Team Champion, making her the promotion's second Triple Crown Champion.
