Mona can also be a Manx name or word referring to the Isle of Man. Unlike this meaning, it is not an English version but comes from the oldest known name given to the island, Manu or Mana. Caesar actually referred to the island under this name - 'an island called Mona which lies midway across the sea separating Britain from Ireland.'

This name sucks in English. It sounds like a black person or a New York Jew pronouncing 'moaner'. I hope that doesn't sound racist, but isn't that how it goes in America?
Mona is my middle name. I'm named after my maternal grandmother. I've found much more meanings for the name than the ones on this site and I love the diversity of it. My favourite meaning is "moon".
