This entry is actually incorrect. The name "Mormon" comes from the Book of Mormon, a companion book to the Bible in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which is titled for the man (Mormon) who compiled most of the records in the book. He, in turn, got his name from a place where many of his ancestors were baptized, which was called the Waters of Mormon. The origin and meaning of the name are unknown. (The supposed meaning given in this entry, "more good," is speculation only.)
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ have been called Mormons in the past, in reference to the book's title.
