The character for "nao" means more than just obedient, it also carries the idea of being straight and honest. There's another "nao" kanji that means "noble".
Very aesthetically pleasing. I wouldn't even hesitate to use it as a name for a girl with no Japanese heritage at all. The meaning is also desirable, when you count the other senses besides just "obedient".
