This is an adorable name, I would even name my baby this if I ever have one.
I think Nico is a cute and sweet name for a little boy, but that being said... I feel it's a bit simple. I prefer Neeko for a more feminine name that could be for either gender in my opinion. I am sure you're child (or original character) would love their name if you name them Nico!

I think it's best as a girl's name. Works good as a male name as well, but I think it sounds wonderful as a nickname for a girl especially. Really nice name either way!
This name is cute! The names Nicolas/Nikolas/Nicholas are cute too. This name can be further brought to the nickname Nick, or Nicky, which are cute as well.
No offence, but it sounds sissy and simple for a boy.
I'd love to see this be more of a unisex name because of Velvet Underground and Nico. Her real name isn't Nico (Christa PΓ€ffgen) but I still think it can work.
A simple and cool name for a boy. I find it strange on girls.
I like this much better for a girl, but it's alright for a boy too.
I like it, but it reminds me of "Nico Nico Nii~!" a bit too much. Oh yeah, and Nico Nico Video, the Japanese video sharing site.
My name is Nicodemus or Nico for short and I like that name.
My name is Nico and I like the name. My girlfriend Carly calls me Nico even though my real name is Nicholas. I might even name my son (if I ever have one) this. Most people think the name Nico is childish, but I like it, so yeah.
Nico is a very nice name! It sounds exotic and attractive but it is easy to say. A great nickname for Nicolas or a standalone name.
Nico is the worst name ever.
I know a boy named Nico, and he has a twin brother named Rocco. I love this name.
Nico is acually a unisex name, being short for Nicholas, Nicola or Nikola, or just Nico. I always loved the name, and it's so easy for someone like me who is Genderfluid. No need for two names, just Nico.
Nico is an awesome name for a person of any gender. I love Nico from the Percy Jackson books, so there's that. My genderqueer best friend is named Nico, and I named a character who is also genderqueer after her.
Um, no. Sounds like something someone would name their Siberian husky. I don't know if I'd be able to take this name seriously on an adult, although it might be a cool nickname for Nicholas/Nicolas.
I wouldn't recommend using the variant Neko, it means cat in Japanese. Unless you like that kind of thing.
Singer/model/actress Nico was just NICO. Her birth name was Christa Paeffgen (I don't know how to do Umlauts, so I use the internal e). Once you tack a last name onto it, Nico does seem to become more masculine. Although Nico was a strikingly beautiful woman in her youth (before drugs and hard living took their toll), her deep Dietrich-like singing voice, her decidedly unfrilly manner of dress, gesture and speech made for a somewhat androgynous impression. Which, I think, she enjoyed. She was "named after" a man, the former lover of one of her early photographers. However, it's been suggested that her name echoes more feminine sounding names like Coco (as in Chanel) and that was part of the appeal.Contemporary singer Neko Case uses a variant (and therefore perhaps more feminine?) spelling.
It seems strange to me that Nico would be considered a girls' name, let alone predominantly feminine. It ends with an 'O' which is traditionally masculine. A beautiful name for a boy. A somewhat silly name for a girl.
Cool name. Would consider using as a middle name for one of my kids.
