Feminine form of Nymphidios (see Nymphidius). A bearer of this name was the mother of Gaius Nymphidius Sabinus, a Prefect of the Roman Praetorian Guard from the 1st century AD. In literature, the poet Michael Drayton used the name for a fairy in his epic 'Nimphidia' (1627).
