A lot are comparing it to Frozen, the cute, goofy snowman is a massive step up from the most famous bearer I knew as a kid, the murdering, cartoonishly evil Count Olaf from the Series of Unfortunate Events series.
I would note though that if I had this name I’d probably mention that it was the name of a saint and many kings of Norway to add to the seriousness of the name.
I despise the movie Frozen which puts a stereotype that people with this name are strange at most times. But even without the movie, the name sounds immature. I would recommend using it as a nickname for Alefir instead of using it as a full name.
Your kid will get hella teased with this name... cause of Frozen...
I love the name... but man, I cannot stop thinking about that silly snowman from Frozen.
I hate Frozen and this name. Olaf is such an ugly name.
Doesn’t sound right for some reason.
I don't like the meaning, it's weird. The name is alright I guess.
This name was awesome until Frozen came out.
I can't hear this name without thinking of the annoying talking snowman from Frozen, Olaf. Just doesn't appeal to me.
I strongly associate this name with some evil antagonist, even without the infamous Series of Unfortunate Events. Olaf honestly sounds like some stereotypical name for perhaps numerous character villains.
In my opinion, Olaf sounds very Norwegian.
Count Olaf is a fun but sadistic character, and the name sounds more like a surname, so I wouldn't use this name.
Two words: Count Olaf. This association with the name makes it rather unappealing to me.
My assosiation of this name with Count Olaf makes it funny to me for some reason. I don't know why, as Count Olaf isn't a funny character. But it makes me laugh. There's just something inherently goofy about this name (no offense to anyone named Olaf).
I am very proud to have the name Olaf.
The first time I heard this name was in A Series of Unfortunate Events and I thought Snicket made it up, it was so goofy sounding.
This name reminds me of pure evil because of Count Olaf in the Series of Unfortunate Events. I never liked it anyways, so I don't mind.
