The first element of this Greek name is uncertain to me; it may have been derived from Greek ὀνή (one) "help", but it could also have been derived from Greek ὄνησις (onesis) "benefit, luck, prosperity." Even ὄνος (onas) or (onos) "ass, donkey" is a possibility. The second element of this name is derived from Greek ανδρος (andros) meaning "of a man".
