Philipp (1527-1598) was the oldest son of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and his wife Isabel of Portugal. He later became the King of Spain and Portugal.
Derives from Greek components: ΦΙΛΟΣ-ΙΠΠΟΣ = Friend-horse. Since it derives from Greek, double p is the right spelling. Most famous: father of Alexander the Great (-est). He was the son of Amynda, king of Macedonia, 4th century B.C.
