I don't think anyone would like to name their child Poseidon, even if it sounds nice.

I think it's cool, though the movie sure made it look bad.

I named my fish Poseidon after the 70's movie "The Poseidon Adventure."

This name is very pompous, pretentious, and over-the-top. And it would be really funny if Poseidon turned out to hate the water.

Poseidon is actually composed by the elements "poton" (water, drink) and "dē/das" (earth), hence the deity of seas and earth/earthquakes.

I think it's very cool, but not exactly usable on a person.

It seems that Poseidon, is derived from Greek "posis" (lord) and δαFον (dawn) water in some IE languages: Lord of the waters.
