Comments (Personal Impression Only)

What awful comments! You may not care what you say, but words are more dangerous than weapons. Prudence isn't half bad, and to all the Prudences out there, don't be ashamed of your name!
Prudence is one of the ugliest names I have ever seen. I don’t feel bad for saying this and I never will. It is literally so bad, I refuse to be friends with ANYONE who has this name out of pure embarrassment. I’m aware my name isn’t much better, but this one is just trashy and gross.
It's a very pretty name, never met a Prudence, but I would automatically think they were smart.
Prudence is a virtue and sounds lovely as a name for girls. People complain of the word prude, but modesty and morals are virtues. A society is in dire state when anything vaguely reminiscent of decency causes disgust. In reality, Prudence is self-discipline and the ability to manage situations through the use of reason. It means good judgment and caution. There's nothing to dislike about the meaning of the word. I'd love to be called Anna or Anne Prudence, after St. Anne.
Ugly and mean sounding.
I think this name is gorgeous... it's older but it's very sweet.
I don’t find this name attractive in the slightest. Sorry.
This name is so ugly. It sounds like a name of a very mean, evil girl and a villain or a bad character in a cartoon movie or TV show.
It has the words "prune", and "prude". So ugly, and sounds like a name that a mean girl would have.
Very unattractive name with some not so great associations such as prude and prune juice.
It literally has the word prude in it. So ugly.
Dear Prudence is my favorite Beatles song. They make it seem so beautiful ❤️. I like the nickname Prue.
Reminds me of prunes. Terrible vibes. Feels stuck-up and fantasy-ish in a terrible YA novel way.
I do not know why The Beatles bothered to make a song about this name. They should have made one named "Dear Sarah and Jamie". That would have been I nice song. I would have listened to that.
I know the name Prudence is ugly and old and has the word "Prude" inside it, but it grew on me because of the Papa Louie games (Papa's Pancakeria, you can play as her.)
I like the name Prudence Everett in Nanny and the Professor TV series. It was a cute girl's name.
Maybe older names need to make a comeback.
Unattractive name.
Prudence sounds okay I guess :l.
Very ugly.
This name just sounds gross. Sounds like a pruny, old woman who’s not quite “there” and drinks lots of prune juice.
Apparently this is an unpopular opinion here, but I think the name Prudence sounds really nice. I'm a young adult and honestly, no one really calls anyone a prude anymore so I don't think that would really be an issue? I don't know if I'd use this name on a child, but it would definitely be very cute on a pet.
Prudence is an old woman living in an assisted living facility (nothing wrong with that, she's just that old), she has been around since 1869, she's wrinkly, dusty, crusty, musty, pruny, flabby, lumpy, she has cobwebs, and she's as dry as the Sahara. But she loves knitting and baking cookies for everyone!
People will call the kid a prude, prudish, and prune. Terrible name.
I think Prudence is a lovely name that should be used more often.
This name makes me think of Dear Prudence By The Beatles. Not a fan.
I absolutely love the name Prudence. It's uncommon and sweet. I would definitely name my daughter Prudence.
Prudence is a good virtue, but not a good name, in my opinion.
This is my dog's name. It's a good name for a timid, shy dog.
I just named my daughter Prudence. I think it's a beautiful name. Not only is it one of my favorite songs by the Beatle's "Dear Prudence" which is a beautiful song, but the meaning of the name is what sold us on naming our daughter. Prudence means sensible, prudent, cautious, and intelligent. It is most important that people give their children powerful and moving names. It will affect them in great ways as they mature.
This name makes me think of either an old woman from the 1800's or a stuck-up rich girl.
My name is Prudence and I'm 13. I don't really like my own name, but oh well.
I really love this name. It's a traditional, strong, feminine girls name. Pru is also adorable for a nickname.
I really think that the comments should have two sections... "Good" and "Bad." Just so nobody gets offended. Anyway, I do really enjoy this name. I've never met a Prudence, but I really hope I do!
I adore this name! The meaning is great and it sounds very refined, if I ever have a daughter her name will be, without a doubt, Prudence.
My granddaughter is called Prudence. Although normally referred to as Prue, she really likes her name. So if anyone likes the name and is undecided, it worked for her.
I think it a lovely name. =) I am aware anyone called this may be teased and called a 'prude' however they can insist firmly about being called "Pru" as a nickname, which sounds quite pretty, don't you think?
I'm just absolutely in love with this name! It sounds so beautiful and sophisticated.
I actually really like this name and don't think of old and snobby people. I seem to love the old Victorian names though, so it isn't surprising. I especially love the nickname, it is really cute. Maybe I will name one of my future daughters Prudence.
I don't care what all of you think: I think that Prudence is a very cute name. It's sweet and old-fashioned, and I like the nickname Pru. I think this name is more fitted for a cat than a girl, but I still find it adorable.
I love this name, I've always liked older-style names, I named my guitar Prudence after the song by the Beatles.
I'm sorry, but Prudence is a crusty, sour, wrinkly, dried-up old person name.
I like this name, but it sounds too close to the word "prudish", which makes me immediately think of snooty Victorian era people.
I don't like it. This name reminds me of the word prune for some reason.
This name is underused. I'd love to meet a young Prudence.
I don't like the word rude in it.
Like others have said, Prudence makes me think of the words prude and prune. It also seems like an old lady name.
I am the only Prudence that I know, and I've lived in about 6 different countries, so I don't think it's travelled very far. I prefer people to call me Prue (as opposed to Pru, the spelling of which just annoys me)I understand completely that some people find Prudence a slighty 'ponsy' stuck-up, aristocrat name, but I like the nickname much more, and I like having a name that isn't unheard of, but not very common either.(Of course, some idiots still say to me 'when I first heard someone say that you were called prue, I though they said prune. HAR HAR HAR!' [this makes me want to weep in despair])
I don't like this name much. It has that whole Puritanical virtue name sort of vibe one associated with the Pilgrims. But more importantly, it it reminds me of "prude" and "prune." "Pru" makes sort of a cute nickname. But I would never consider this name.
What? You want your kid to be called prude as, not only an insult, but a nickname? A bit cruel to the poor girl.
This name is NOT good. Better as middle name in my opinion. I don't know who'd actually want their name to be Prudence, although I do like the nickname Pru. But Prudence is better for a character than a human.
This name sounds like it belongs to someone old and mean, no offense meant. The short form Pru is kind of cute. But if you want to use the whole name, I won't try to stop you. It's your choice if it means something to you.
No offense to people who like or have the name Prudence, but I really don't like it as a name. It makes me think of prune.
